I am very passionate and attuned to African and Middle Eastern politics in particular and so that’s why I ran for the Political Chair. I’m originally from Ghana, but moved to the Dallas, Texas area when I was younger. My name is Taibat Awokoya and I am a sophomore at Barnard College. I am Nigerian-American, grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and I currently live in Texas. I am ASA’s Social Chair and have planned events like African Thanksgiving and Shakara! Some of my hobbies are boating, expanding my knowledge of cuttlefish, and listening to Afrobeats/Fuji music. I plan to serve ASA in the future years through Afropolitan and the E-Board.
